🏠 Enclosure Setup
Ball pythons are ambush predators that feel secure in tight spaces. The right enclosure size is crucial:
- Adults: 40 gallon breeder minimum (36"x18"x18"), ideally 4'x2'x2'
- Juveniles: 20 gallon long (30"x12"x12")
- Hatchlings: 10 gallon or 6"x6"x12" tub
The enclosure should be big enough for your snake to stretch out fully, but small enough that they feel secure. Too big = stress.

Ball pythons are ectothermic and rely on external heat sources:

Always use a quality thermostat with any heat source. Never rely on temperature alone — use digital thermometers on both sides.

- Use a digital hygrometer — don't guess
- Mist as needed, but avoid constant dampness
Too wet = respiratory infections. Too dry = stuck shed. Balance is key.
🍽️ Feeding
Ball pythons are carnivores that eat whole prey:
- Prey size: 10-15% of snake's body weight
- Feeding frequency:
- Hatchlings: every 5-7 days
- Juveniles: every 7-10 days
- Adults: every 14-21 days
- Prey type: Frozen/thawed mice or rats
